Refugee Adult Education

What World Relief Offers...

At World Relief Nashville, our Education Department for adults refugees has two major emphases - American cultural orienation and English as a Second Language.

Our American cultural orientation provides newly arrived refugees with information about legal documents and status, nation and state laws, employment, community resources, the healthcare system, home safety, etc. These classes are to be taught within the first thirty days of each client's arrival to the United States.

One of our other goals at World Relief Nashville is to provide an English language class for all our newly arrived refugees within walking distance of their home. World Relief Nashville offers a few English language classes taught by volunteers or our Education Coordinator, but we also refer many of our clients to classes offered by partnering organizations like Catholic Charities and ESL to Go. We also utilize our volunteer base to provide in-home tutors to those clients who live outside an area where any class is available.

Other Resources for Immigrants and Refugees...

The city of Nashville has continued to improve by adding additional classes for all immigrants coming to Music City. If you are looking for an English class near you, the Nashville Human Relations Commission has created a map of local English Classes. Click here to learn more.
