Volunteer Application Process

NOTE: Each applicant may have a unique order to their process depending on when/how they discovered World Relief and/or the opportunity they desire to serve in. This, however, is the standard order a volunteer goes through and/or must complete to begin volunteering in an official capacity.

**Anyone 16 and over is individually required to go through the process listed below if they wish to engage with one of our new friends.

STEP 1 -  COMPLETE AN APPLICATION

STEP 2 -   PHONE INTERVIEW

This is an opportunity for us to get to you a little more and you to get to know us as well. Through some basic questions about your interest, experience and availability, we can find the best place for you to begin volunteering with us. Plan for no longer than 30 minutes max for this interview. 

*Good Neighbor Teams or Friendship Partner Teams of 2 or more only require the leader to be interviewed.

STEP 3 -   REFERENCES CHECK

We wil email some basic questions to the 2 references listed on the application based on their relationship with the volunteer applicant. We only need one reference to respond with answers to our questions to move on to the next step.

STEP 4 -   REGISTER & ATTEND A VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION TRAINING

Once you submit your volunteer application, you are welcome to sign-up for one of our upcoming orientation/training sessions.  These orientations will introduce you to World Relief, our work in the Nashville area, the refugee resettlement process and essential information needed for your volunteer experience. This is a required step and your attendance the whole time is expected. Anyone 16 and older desiring to engage with a World Relief client is required to complete this step as well (both spouses included). Please RSVP via the linked dates below as space is LIMITED and REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

STEP 5 -   BACKGROUND CHECK

Due to the extensive contact volunteers have with families and resources, we run a very thorough background and motor vehicle check on all volunteers and staff. Once we've received your completed volunteer application and you have attended the orientation-training session, an e-mail will be sent to you including a link to complete the background check. Please rest assured that the results are confidential and will not be shared with anyone other than the local World Relief representative. Thank you for your participation.

STEP 6- CREATE TRACK IT FORWARD ACCOUNT

For every client you spend time with, transport somwhere or any time spent volunteering in a general capacity with World Relief as an official volunteer, your activity MUST be tracked each time. To do so, please create an account through http://www.trackitforward.com. Make sure you select World Relief Nashville as your organization. You may also download the app called OURVOLTS for easy tracking.

STEP 7 -   PLACEMENT

Once your application has been processed, the orientation/training and background check are complete and you have created a TIF account, one of our volunteer coordinators will contact you to determine placement.
